My Handmade Space on Modish!

Written on April 7, 2008

Hey, guess what?!! I’m featured on this great web site that blogs about Indie designers (that’s independent artists). We just got home after a wonderful trip down to Galveston for the wedding of some dear friends – so what a nice surprise to find when I sat down to my computer. Go check it out, and thanks, Jena!! Catching Up

Written on April 5, 2008

I’m feeling like an exhausted hamster in a revolving cage must feel – just can’t seem to catch up. Our show in Houston at the Bayou City Art Festival was terrific, and as a result I have some special orders to fill. Then there’s updating etsy (deleting all the listings of items we sold in Houston), updating the rest of my web site (not done yet), making more beads for jewelry to take to our upcoming show in Tallahassee, Florida, working with the contractors on our new house, getting ready for a visit with one of our best friends flying in from California, making more stock for The Gallery at Round Top, finishing up the necklace for the Round Top Library Fundraiser, Foley-Necklace-Web-1 planting my garden before its too late in the season, trying to find time to write another "Go Anyway" chapter, and oh, just a few dozen other normal things that need taking care of just to keep us nourished.

So this morning I had a good talk with myself – "It’s OK – you are the one who set up all these goals, and created all these projects. And, remember, life has a way of working out in spite of what you do or don’t do. Just relax, and breathe." I did – and on our morning walk I inhaled the heady mix of scents from all the wildflowers in my field – bluebonnets, Indian Paintbrush, Yellow stars, Pinks, Grape Hyacinth, Wild Lilies, and lots of others I can’t name. How beautiful! I heard a whoosh, and  looked up in time to see a flock of ducks wedging overheard. I stopped again to listen as the cardinals, cedar waxwings, sparrows, and other birds call and trill their mating songs. Yep, life is just fine without all my worry, scurry, and attempts to catch up.

Here are a few pictures from my morning walk:
