Bead Soup Blog Party 2013

by Lyn Foley on February 9, 2013

Soup is on for 2013: A group of  500 beaders will swap beads and create fantastic, fascinating jewelry from the mystery ingredients they receive in the mail. It is a really (!) fun game  I’ve played several times in the past – if you haven’t heard about Bead Soup Party, follow this link for more information.

My partner is Eva Sherman, an artist who creates big, bold, wonderful cuff bracelets using wire and copper. Eva’s jewelry is on the March 2013 cover of Art Jewelry Magazine and her article inside describes how to make the bracelets. I’m don’t know what else Eva creates, but judging from the bracelets her jewelry will be something special.

I’ve shipped Eva a package of bead soup beads- but, shh! – keep it quiet. I can’t tell what I sent until she opens her surprise. I will say a few of my lampwork glass beads are in  in the mix. I’m anxious to see what she’ll send me. I’ll keep you posted as the game moves toward the our reveal date of March 30th.

The recent  Earring Slam Jam in Houston was a success, so I am home making beads, designing jewelry, and getting ready for my spring shows (I never quit, do I?)

I recently completed “Beach Glass Blues Necklace.”  The name is a bit funny since there isn’t any beach glass in the necklace. But I thought the natural quartz beads looked like beach glass, so there you go. I created my lampwork blue-green glass beads to look bit melted or worn.  Can’t you just picture a beautiful beach when you see this necklace? It’s a lucious 20 inches long, $315.00.

“Chained in Style” is another necklace fresh from my torch. Five strands of bronze chain drip with my lampworkd glass beads in lentils, bicones, and squeezed shapes, in lovely bead colors of amber, moss green, chocolate and gold. The necklace is adjustable from 18 to 21 inches. Ummm! $315.

I’ll get these posted on my shop site soon – meanwhile, e-mail me or leave me a comment below to catch them now. Leave a comment anyway – what do you think of my two new necklaces?
